The Blues split their doubleheader today behind the stellar pitching of Scott Dunn (Owlz), Ben Sorosky (Gray Bats), and Buddy Skeelsi (Gray Bats). While they lost the second game 3-2, the Bulldogs were valuable contributors in the 4-2 morning game.
Vinny Gala played an outstanding defensive first base in the opening victory, adding a single and a walk offensively. Brian Strom doubled in the first two Blues runs of the tournament with a base-clearing double. Joe Graff walked in the bottom of the sixth, collecting what would ultimately be the game winning RBI, and scored an insurance run from first in the bottom of the 8th on a double by Rob Cool.
Gala, Graff and Strom led the way offensively on the day as they collectively went 6 for 12 with 6 walks, 2 runs scored, 2 doubles (all Strommie), 1 stolen base and 3 RBIs. In total the Blues scored 6 runs on the day.
