Roll Tide – Red Tide Roster Set for Fall

I attended the fall ball draft last night and drafted the "red" team - name the Red Tide by Joe - renamed the Red Rockets by myself.  There seems to be a lot of talent in this season's fall ball, more teams than last season (possibly 6), and a lot of new faces to the league as well.

Here is who the Tide are rolling with in September:

Greg Wittmer (3b) - I had to bring along our Bulldogs third baseman.  Wino is solid on the corner.  He wanted to be the #1 overall pick in the draft but I picked 4th.

Doug Della-Penna (Util) - Vinny is out first baseman on the Bulldogs, but Doug is going to get a look at 1b, along with some innings on the mound, especially because I don't know if I drafted enough pitchers.  Doug also makes a mean Mac and cheese.

Joe Esposto (?) - Marissa aka "Book"'s little bother (or maybe big brother - he ordered a XXL jersey) - She says he will pitch.  I don't know where else he plays.

Anthony Casale (IF) - This dude killed us at SS when we played the Ducks, making several great plays.  I think he played fall ball last season too.  Our infield should be solid.  Also says that he pitches, which will be needed.

Jeffrey Trojan (2b) - Everyone wanted this guy for name alone.  According to the draft sheet , he played college ball.

Rob Logan (C) - I played winter ball with Rob and he played Fall Ball last season.  He also plays in the 28 and over league.  Solid catcher and good hitter.

Ryan Bower (P/OF) - I don't know anything about this guy, but he pitches - he may be our #1 guy so I hope he is good.  He had 5 different choices for jersey number, so he must get around.

Dustin Iser (1b) - Plays summer ball with the Ducks.  Played last Fall with me on the Gray Bats.  Solid first baseman.

Brad Palmer (OF) - I don't know anything about him either, but he was a package deal with Iser and we needed another outfielder.

Quinn Sakumoto (Util) - He came to a Bulldog workout one time.  He played some infield and also hit the ball well.  Maybe he can pitch?  I hope so because we don't have many pitchers.  We might have to make some trades.

Chris Lee (OF/1b/C) - Package deal with Quinn.  He will play some outfield and backup Rob as catcher.

Mike Martin (OF) - Aging outfielder.  Lost a step since younger days.  Weak bat, but occasionally can hit a double.  Starts out season on a tear and then slowly fades.  Possibly best drinker on the team.

Fellow Bulldog Brian Strom will be running the Orange Crush again this season.  Other Bulldogs playing fall ball include Scott Kramer, Joe Graff, Vinny Gala, Dan Morgan, and Schuyler Schaeffer.

Is Joe taking anymore players for Fall Ball?

  4. True. So I can expect mac & cheese to be in the dugout of the Red Rockets? Sounds good.

I actually made this M&C receipe a few weeks ago with aged gouda and gruyere cheese. It might give Della-Penna’s a run for the money.

(I know, I know….YODA THINKS FIGHTING OVER MAC & CHEESE RECIPES IS GAY..)

There’s always room for Mr. Johnstown.
