Bulldogs Recap: Football Doubleheader in Snowstorm

AVONWORTH, PA - On a snowy Saturday morning, the Bulldogs played two closely contested football games that would foreshadow the closely fought games of Panthers and Steelers later in the weekend.

In Game 1, a late arriving Mike Martin aided Matt "Dugo" Dugovich, Richie "The Lefty", and Scott "Skip" Kramer to a closely contested 50-42 victory.  Jay "Don't call me Cutler" Yorty called the signals for both teams, but ultimately the Gold team could not overcome the 14-0 lead they spotted the Blue Team.

"Skip" and "The Lefty" led the efforts of the Blue team in Game One, as both enjoyed multiple deep balls behind thier defenders. BJ Rankin, Vinny Gala, and Jeff Trojan recieved a suprising contribution from teammate Joe Graff, when he caught three passes (while only dropping two) after last weeks seven drops and no receptions.  However, it was not enough to defeat the Blue team.

In Game Two, Skip Kramer was traded for Jeff Trojan and his Zumba pants, however the outcome was the same for the gold team.  With the game tied 42-42, Yorty connected with Richie the lefty to make the score 48-42.  The Gold Team decided to go for two, and won the game when Yorty hit Dugo at the front left pylon on a timed curl route to win the game 50-42.

Following the game, the players enjoyed $2 adult beverages, wings, and sandwiches at the Rochester Inn.  Martin and Yorty (the Ohio contingent) were told to do not-so-nice- things to themselves by various bar patrons as they cheered the 21-point come from behind victory of the Bearcats over the Panthers.

Next Game: The Bulldogs will look to play at least 2 more games in December.  The first being this weekend on Sunday Dec 13th.  The Steelers do not play on Sunday so we expect a good turnout.  The other game will take place on December 19th in advance of the Holiday Party that evening.  Both game starts @ 10am at Avonworth High School, with the party starting @ 6pm on the 19th.  If you did not receive your invitation, please contact Joe Graff or Scott Kramer.
