Weekend Update: Bulldogs 22, Knights 0

The Bulldogs swept the weekend doubleheader and dedicated the victory to Mothers everywhere.  Some Bulldogs even dedicated the game to other player's moms, while some moms were in attendance.

In other news, the Bulldogs are searching for some slogans for 2010, and are open to suggestions.  A poll will be conducted soon to determine the winner.

On to the highlights....

  1. how about, “We have the second gayest blog in the pittsburgh naba!” with like a rainbow and/or a unicorn incorporated into it?

  2. love the attendance figures.

  3. Sounds like the Knights were dressed in white satin..

The Bulldogs site doesn’t discriminate. 10 more in attendnce for the 2nd game of the DH. The post Mothers Day brunch crowd?

  4. hahaha. it was sure an interesting day. i didnt even notice the crowd increase.

  5. the sexy asians must have showed up late

  6. Nobody’s keeping stats this year? Team’s getting lazy. I thought Graff’s rule was team were to post stats or get fined?

  7. PBl is a fine you dont post stats.

NABA rule is that if you dont post stats you dont get all star game representation.

  8. dibs on the spots the eagles won’t take up due to not entering stats.

  9. what if the militia don’t play a game before the allstar break and the eagles don’t enter any stats?
    Ducks/B-sox vs. the other conference?

  10. we could always pull players from single A…..since they are already going to be considered for automatic BYEs in the playoff tournament….if they can automatically get those particular playoff spots by playing a weaker schedule then why shouldnt they be allowed to be incorporated into the mon and allegheny divisions of playing in the all star game…..but they arent entering stats either so i guess its a wash

  11. oh yeah, the A division…i guess we play Cutthroat or something.

  12. this is definitely a transition year for the A, AA stuff, we’ll see how it goes in the post season.

  13. I’m beginning to agree with Gwin and his Big Oil Theory (no relation to the Big Bang Theory). Request to be in the A division, then proceed to rout every team in said division with a vastly superior team. Even going on to topple the 2009 NABA Champion Hurricanes, in the AA division.

While they may not have ‘begged’ to be in the A division, I don’t see them requesting to be in the AA division now. What a novel way to make the playoffs.

The plot thickens. I guess this is the conspiracy for the 2010 season. Every year’s gotta have one.

  14. well to their credit, they did have the worst record in the NABA last year other than the gray bats.. since the bats are gone, they were the worst team by default – and it gave the divisions an equal number of teams… i’d rather have them stay in the league, than breakup all together.

they just happened to pick up a stud pitcher and draft a few guys that can put the ball in play.

  15. So where are these so called “slogans” to be considered?

  16. congrats to them on getting a stud pitcher….thats what your supposed to do in the off season…(recruit players to make your team better)……however…..for the teams playing in a weaker league of play and playing more games against that weaker competition they shouldn’t be granted a BYE in the playoff tournament ahead of the other AA teams that competed and played more games against the tougher competition…….when they are granted that it only goes back to my comments over the winter about wanting to be titled A champs and then getting a step up in the playoff tournament without actually earning it…..how can all the teams in the AA except the two that recieve a BYE get looked over when the seedings get filled for the tournament by two A teams that didn’t play as many games against the tougher competitive teams…………..maybe they should have just been tossed in to the two divisions that the AA plays in (which would have the same league outline as last year) and they would have earned their way to getting a decent playoff seeding…….no reason for the AA teams to compete on a higher level and then get the shaft when it comes playoff time……..

  17. whether my team gets a first round bye or not or if i was on a AA team that didn’t have a stellar enough record to get a first round bye i’d be pissed at the fact that i had to play in what was considered to be a better competitive division and then get overlooked by two teams that didn;t play as many “competitive” games as my team did…..probably causing them to have a better record or also the cause of my team having a weaker record…….right???

  18. plain and simple…..giving single A teams a higher seed than ANY AA team in the playoff tounrnament is absolute garbage………reminds me of a conversation i had with two managers of AA teams…..where all three of us said….whats the point of playing the regular season in a higher competition level when it wont matter until the playoff seedings are made anyway……..and if there are two A teams getting a better seeding than AA teams then it takes away from being placed in AA anyway

  19. FLO, we’ll see which team gets the bye when it’s all said and done…quack, quack….I agree in principle with what you’re saying though, any team in AA could have positioned themselves for a better shot at a bye by going into A, then hypothetically, revealing after the fact they had two pitchers from Allegheny College and a kid who pitched lights out for Tiel jioning the team mid season and effectively, but not intentionally, sandbagging to better position themselves than say the Eagles, who may finish last in the AA (based on last year’s records) but be punished for trying to compete at a higher level. But, from what i gather, Big Oil made teh decision based upon what they knew they had returning which was a team that finished last in the Campbell Conference last year, and they added some guys after that decision was made.

this season is just the hinge to get an A league that will be self-contained and an AA league with two separate playoff systems, i assume.

  20. on this note, the maulers split with the militia over the weekend.

  21. The single A Maulers nearly swept the doubleheader against the AA Elite.

I still say the Big Oil Conspiracy is alive and well.
