Contrary to rumors.... there is no demise in sight for your favorite Bulldogs. There have been some changes to the rosters this year, but all is well. The young guys have added some raw "Meat" to their lineup, and the veterans have chosen a more seasoned duck. Both teams appear to be headed for a strong finish. Three quick points.
1) The 18 and over Bulldogs are on their way to their best season since 2007, needing only one more win to securing their second Allegheny Division Crown. The two lopsided loses were meaningless games from a standings perspective, as we knowingly did not field our best defensive or offensive line-ups against two very good teams.
2) The 28 and over Bulldogs are fighting for a playoff berth in their inaugural season in the PBL. The only other teams to have ever done so in the 22-year history of that league are the Prowlers (who we've beaten), and the Wildcats (who we've beaten). We lost last week to the 20 time, and defending champion, Pittsburgh. This is the same team that no-hit our 18+ team last year, 6-0. They are a good, accomplished group of ballplayers.
3) The core group of Bulldogs has been sidelined for a variety of reasons, and unable to drink as in days of old. Marriage, Weekly Vacations, Arrests, Midget Wrestling, Injuries, and plain old work schedules have combined to deplete rosters. Both teams have lost their starting centerfielder and #2 pitchers for the majority of the season. The 18+ team has lost time of its third baseman, and right fielder as well. The 28+ team has lost its #1 pitcher, and is struggling to adapt defensively in the new league.
This week the 28+ face another very good ballclub, while the 18 and over version decides its playoff standing. Should be a very interesting week.

thanks for the update…Martin should not be allowed to comment on the state of the teams considering he is too busy skydiving, spelunking, longboarding (whatever the hell that is), surfing the Mon, and planning the big move out West (smile Martin, you’ve simply moved on from whats important in life (baseball) to the next phase of your life and its all good, I enjoyed fall ball and dodgeball with you haha)…anyways Joe the hair is absolutely stunning, did you do any Pantene Pro-V commercials while you were out in Cali?
and you’re so witty sneaking Orhman in the post haha
Is it a requirement that all California dudes wear their hair like that and own a surfboard?
Nice pic. Just watch the traffic increase on this blog now…
i was only commenting on the state of the blog. not the state of the team.
