Past, Present, Friends, and Family.... Everyone is welcome to attend!

The time has come for the 2011 Bulldogs Bash. After a year's hiatus, we are ready to resume the softball playing, fire-jumping, stunt-building, cornhole tossing, puke and rally family party that we are known for.

The Details:

What: The Bulldogs Bash
Who: All Friends, and Family of the Bulldogs
Where: Lilac Grove, North Park (At the end of softball loop behind Pie Traynor Field)
When: 9/3 Noon - Dusk (Softball around 4, Grilling after with homerun derby, jumping over fire pits, slip n slide races, kicking plastic ducks, wiener grabbing, corn-holing and puking in between)
Why: To celebrate the end of the 2011 season with friends and family.
How: Show up any time and bring a food item to share with the crowd. Contact Joe, or go online with what you are able to bring, and when you are coming. The Bulldogs have provided keg beer, and the shelter permits. We are in need of the following items:

Food Items (if someone has a grill or coolers we can use, contact Joe)
Covered Dish / Dessert / Snacks
Pop / Water / Beverages (Bring your own alternative to keg beer)
Plastic Plates / Cups / Silverware
Grillables (Hot dogs, brats, burgers, Kobe steak, etc.)

Other:
Slip in Slides
Cornhole boards
Softball/baseball equipment
Frisbee

Please bring a dish, snack, pop, water, or something else fun, like a frisbee or a super soaker.

As in the previous years, we will probably play some softball, homerun derby, jump over fire pits, slip n slide races, kick plastic ducks, grab wieners, and drink until Matt Ferris passes out.

All girlfriends, wives, and other Bulldogs fans are invited. See Joe G or Wino for more details.

Look up the Pittsburgh Bulldogs on Facebook as well!

Stay tuned for a future post about the Bulldogs golf outing.

Finally, another season is upon us. The 18+ Bulldogs (0-0) are scheduled to open their season tonight against the Southside Eagles (0-0) at 8:30 PM at John Herb Field in Ross Township - that is, assuming the weather cooperates.

After a 2010 season saw the Bulldogs sweep the Eagles in the season series (2-0). I do not have many stats to share other than the previous statement, so let us just leave it at that.

The weather is likely to not cooperate with WeatherChannel.com predicting as much as 0.5" of rain will fall throughout the day today, thus saturating an already oversaturated John Herb Field. Stay tuned to the website for an update regarding the game this evening, or tomorrow for a recap of the game.

I have no idea who the starting pitcher will be for either side, as I still do not know many of the faces on the 18+ Bulldog team. I have no idea who will get the start for the Eagles. All in all, this has likely been the worst post all season, but I am trying to get back into it.

Game #1

Southside Eagles [0-0]

We have our fields set for 2011. The 28+ team will play at Avonworth High School at 9am on Sundays, and the 18 and over team will play at John Herb Field at 830am on Saturdays.

The 18 and over team will attempt to get games in under the lights at John Herb on April 19th, 21st, 26th, and 28th as well.

We have tentatively scheduled inter-squad scrimmages on April 1st, 5th, and April 14th at 830pm at John Herb Field.

On April 9th, the 18 and over team will scrimmage the Express at Volunteer Field around midday.

The 28 and over team will attempt to schedule a scrimmage on the 10th of April.

Both teams are scheduled to start play the weekend of April 16th. With Easter so late this year, games are not expected to be played on the 22nd - 24th of April.

No Yoda Posts Yet This Year....

As details become finalized, they will be added to the Calendar of Events. 18+ Manager BJ Rankin will continue to hold Tuesday Night Batting Practice, and Bulldogs GM Joe Graff will continue to hold Sunday workouts at Avonworth. Details are online.

If you have not done so already, please order your 2011 Apparel including uniforms and register online. We have players who want to play for us in 2011, so please register ASAP and submit your deposits if you plan to play in 2011.

The deadline for registration, deposits, and uniform orders is March 18th. There are no changes to the uniforms for 2011, and fees are expected to drop by a minimum of $20 per player. For more information on why this is, see last week's posts: PBL Meeting Notes and S.O.S.

Finally, there is a movement to have the USCF become a benefactor of Bulldogs Baseball. For more information, contact our social coordinator Trojan.

Wow, it's been awhile.. so long that I can't even recap the golf outing because I don't remember it. There was a slight rain, nice day in general. Gwin's team won I think. Several Bulldogs players were spotted wearing Duck's hats.

In other Bulldogs news, the Red Rockets are back at it in dodgeball. Making noise.. No video edits this year. All business. Kicking ass.

But the point of this post is this.. when I step outside to the cool crisp air, I smell the scent of football. So let's get a game together soon. We usually wait too long and end up playing in the freezing cold rain or snow. Let's try to get a game the weekend after Halloween. No helmet to helmet shots della-penna and wino.

Anyone reading this right now? Rick Beyer?

9:30 am, Avonworth Field Turf, Nov 6th ? This dude is in and he said he wants to play tight end...

Its been a rough week for both Bulldogs Baseball teams, as they were under-manned in their attempts to notch a victory this past week.

But have no fear, as we embark upon a week that will surpass the ratings bonanza that Shark Week has become for the Discovery Channel...

BEAVER WEEK!!!!!

Now the younger Bulldogs, and many of our readers, will not get to enjoy the pleasure of playing with the Beavers this week. Our hope is to educate our readers on the important and proud history of Beavers in Western Pennsylvania and the nation as a whole. Unfortunately, while the younger contingent of our proud franchise faces playing with dicks this week, our hope is that they one day understand what it means to face the Beavers.

If you look closely, you may see a beaver between her legs!

Topics this week shall include:

The Proud History of Beavers in Western Pennsylvania

Bulldogs... I have ben getting blown up about adding a practice this weekend to take advantage of the good weather. The word around is Sunday is the day to do it. I know there are at least four or five of us who want to do it...

There is a league meeting at noon. We could go before around 10am, or after around 2pm or 3pm. The other question would be where to go. Avonworth's turf should be clear by then. I suggest we throw, take some ground balls/fly balls, hit off the tee, and do a little baserunning. Shoud take no more than 90 minutes or so.

If we go indoors, it would have to be at 2pm or 3pm, and be prepared to spend about $10 - $20 per player.

Let the discussion begin...
